Davao, in Philippines, has a beautiful topography with orchid farms, fruits plantations, valleys, thick forests with wildlife and coral islands. How to reach Davao City
You can reach Davao city via ferry, buses and by air. Davao ferry has a bustling sea port, but deals with cargo mainly. Passenger ferries are available to and from Samal and Talikund Islands. Other major cities of Philippines are connected to Davao via the port of Cagayan de oro. The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal is the hub for bus services.

Airport - The Fransisco Bangoy International Airport of Davao City has a few international destinations. But if you want to come to Davao, coming via Singapore should be the most convenient way, if not through Manila. Domestic flights to Manila and Cebu are available through various carriers. The airport is the third busiest in the country after Manila and Cebu. The airport is a hub for Cebu Pacific.

Main Attractions
- Mount Apo: The highest peak in Philippines. It has one of the most diverse flora and fauna diversity per unit area. Indigenous people of six tribes live here. The National Park in Mount Apo is a must visit. There are several lakes and camping sites, which makes this location a popular hiking destination in Philippines.
- Crocodile Park: This breeding centre has various crocodile and other shows to entertain tourists.
- Philippine Eagle Centre: A simulated forest environment housing Philippines’ national bird along with other birds and raptors.
- Eden Natural Park: This Park is situated near the town of Toril, which is an hour’s drive from Davao. You can enjoy a nice walk, horse ride and enjoy some good food here.
- People’s Park: A local favourite, which gets crowded during the nights. It is situated in the Legazpi Street. Man-made waterfalls and a stroll down the bridge makes this place enjoyable.
- San Pedro Cathedral: The cathedral was built in 19th century and is charming presence in the city.
- Shrine of the Holy Infant of Jesus: It situated up a hill and has beautiful sceneries to offer. You can sit back and relax in the hill. Some local celebrations occur once in a day.
- Dabawenyo Museum: Painting to miniatures of cultural importance are displayed here.
- Lonwa Buddhist Temple: It has a graceful design with large statues and a beautiful pond.
- Kublai’s Gallery: A fine-art gallery with an unconventional setting.
- D’Bone Collector Museum: A scary and fascinating place to be in! It has collection of skeletons of various animals.
- Davao Chinatown: Beautiful archways leads to this local market for your local shopping urge.
- Bankerohan Public Market: Truest local tastes of Davao can be tasted in the myriad dishes offered here.
- Gumamela Caverock: Short waterfalls and springs, well-preserved rainforests, sculptures traditional cottages et al can be found here.
Entertainment avenues in this island are minimalistic and even though the beaches are nice, shouldn’t be compared to the ones you would see in Boracay. The city has malls like Counterpoint Plaza, Chimes Speciality Store, G-Mall etc. for shopping as well as cinema.

Places to Stay
Davao City has a number of options for accommodations. A number of serviced apartments and villas are available in the area.
If you are looking to stay with a large group and away from the city, you may want to check Mati.
The adjacent island of Samal is a good choice of stay if you want to be in a secluded and tranquil environment.

Eateries in Davao City
Wide variety of cuisines are available in Davao City. The local favourites are durian and pomelo. Durian smells bad, but the taste is impressive. Pomelo is a citrus fruit locally available.
- Philipino cuisine may be tried at Jack’s Ridge, Lachis, Gardena Fresca, Mang Inasal, de Boerederji etc.
- Claude’s Le Café De Ville offers authentic French cuisine.
- De Bonte Koe offers Dutch cuisine.
- Ahfat, Jekoy’s Grill, Boodel’s, Smoked Cowboy Chicken, Harana Gerry’s Grill etc. are good places to try local grilled dishes.
- Grand Emerald Seafood Garden, Ellen’s Tuna Queen et al are good choices for seafood preparations.
- If good coffee with an interesting ambience excites you, head over to Elephant Milk Co., Basti’s Coffee and Knight’s Café.

Getting Places
Taxi - Taxis are easily available and you get the most honest drivers in Philippines here. They do not charge you extra even if they identify you to be a tourist. You can call a taxi by sending an SMS to the cab service if you don’t find one on the road.
Jeepeney - Colourful shared taxis that are the most common mode of transportation. It is pretty cheap but are cramped for space.
Car - Cars can be rented out if you wish to drive around. If you would like to, you can opt for a driver if required.
Bus - These are better for longer routes but not the best option for shorter distances.
Water Taxis - A newer mode of transportation which is convenient and leisurely. The boat services can take you to the neighbouring islands.
